The City of Clinton is a home-rule class city and proudly serves as the county seat of Hickman County. Our city is governed by a Mayor and six Councilmembers, working together to serve our community.

Pay Your Bill Online

Click the “Pay Online” button above to access our secure payment portal. From there, you can easily:

  • Make a one-time payment
  • Enroll in AutoPay
  • View your account history and past usage
  • Update and manage your account information

Utility Billing Reminder

  • Wastewater and garbage services are due by the last day of each month.
  • Late payments may result in service interruption, so we encourage you to pay on time or reach out if you need assistance.

Important Information

  • Natural gas services are billed through New Commonwealth Natural Gas.
  • While the City of Clinton accepts payments as a convenience, we do not manage gas billing accounts.

Frequently asked questions

Utility Billing and Payments

Utility bills for wastewater and garbage services are sent out monthly.

Your bill is due by the date listed on your statement.
Payments received after that date may be subject to late fees.

We offer several convenient ways to pay:

  • Cash (in person at City Hall)
  • Check or Money Order
  • Debit/Credit Card (online or in office)
  • ACH (Automatic Bank Draft)

You can also pay online anytime by clicking the “Pay Online” button on our homepage.

Online payments may include a small processing fee charged by the payment provider (not the City).

Signing up is simple!

  • Complete an ACH Authorization Form
  • Return it to City Hall with a voided check

There is no fee to enroll, and drafts are processed on the last business day of each month.

Wastewater and garbage services are billed together and must be paid in full each month.

If your account becomes past due:

  • Late fees will be applied
  • Service interruption may occur
  • Water service may be disconnected through Water Service Corporation of Kentucky
  • Garbage containers may be removed

A $100 reconnection fee will be required before services can be restored.

Starting or Stopping Service

Our staff will walk you through the process and get your account set up.

Monday – Friday
7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

If you need to stop service, please contact City Hall at least 24 hours in advance of your requested disconnect date.

We’ll take care of the rest and make sure everything is handled smoothly.

Garbage Collection

Garbage pickup for residential customers takes place on Wednesdays.

 

If your garbage was missed, please give us a call at (270) 653-6419 and we’ll be happy to help get it taken care of.

If your regular pickup day falls on a holiday, collection may be delayed.

We’ll keep you updated with any changes on our website and Facebook page, so be sure to check there for the latest information.

Natural Gas Service

Yes. The City of Clinton accepts payments for natural gas services as a convenience to our residents.

Natural gas services are provided and billed through New Commonwealth Natural Gas.

Your safety comes first.

If you smell gas or suspect a leak:

  • Call 911 immediately
  • Then contact the gas provider at (270) 335-3116

Please do not wait—gas leaks can be dangerous and should be reported right away.

Business & Licensing

Yes. Any business operating within the City of Clinton must obtain an Occupational License.

Meetings & Public Records

City Council meetings are typically held on the first Monday of each month.

If there are any changes or special meetings, notices will be posted in advance—so be sure to check our website or contact City Hall for updates.

Public Records Requests can be submitted in writing to the City Clerk at City Hall, in accordance with Kentucky Open Records laws (KRS 61.870).
