Clinton is a proud home-rule class city and the county seat of Hickman County. Our city is governed by a Mayor and six Councilmembers who are elected to serve and represent our community.

The Mayor serves a four-year term, while Councilmembers serve two-year terms to ensure consistent representation of our residents.

The City of Clinton processes payments for the following services and fees:

Frequently asked questions

Utility Billing and Payments

Utility bills for wastewater and garbage services are issued monthly.

Bills are due by the date listed on your statement. Payments received after the due date are subject to late fees.

The City accepts:

  • Cash (in person)

  • Check or Money Order

  • Debit/Credit Card (online or in office)

  • ACH (Automatic Bank Draft)

You may pay online by clicking the Pay Online button on the homepage.

Online payments may include a processing fee charged by the payment provider.

Complete an ACH Authorization Form and return it to City Hall with a voided check.
There is no fee to enroll. Drafts occur on the last business day of each month.

Starting or Stopping Service

To begin utility service, please contact City Hall at (270) 653-6419 or visit us in person at:

7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Please contact City Hall at least 24 hours before your requested disconnect date.

Garbage Collection

Garbage pickup for residential customers is on Wednesdays.

 

If your garbage was not collected, please contact City Hall at (270) 653-6419.

If pickup falls on a holiday, collection may be delayed. Updates are posted on the website and Facebook page.

Natural Gas Service

Yes. The City collects billing for natural gas services.

If you smell gas or suspect a leak, call 911 immediately and contact the gas provider at 270-335-3116.

Business & Licensing

Yes. Businesses operating within the City limits must obtain an Occupational License.

Meetings & Public Records

City Council meetings are held on the first Monday of each month (unless otherwise posted).

Public Records Requests may be submitted in writing to the City Clerk at City Hall in accordance with KRS 61.870.
